Kritagyata Trust’s Seed Ball Campaign Mobilizes Volunteers for Reforestation and Eco-Restoration

In an inspiring act of community-driven environmental action, Kritagyata Trust recently organized a Seed Bombing drive at Gedare Hills, Gauribidanur bringing together dedicated volunteers to help restore the region’s native green cover.

What Is Seed Bombing?

Seed Bombing is a natural and effective method of planting trees without disturbing the soil. It involves creating small balls of clay, compost, and native seeds — which are then scattered over barren land. Once the rains arrive, these seed balls germinate, helping restore plant life and support biodiversity.

This method is ideal for areas where manual planting is difficult and is now widely used in afforestation and eco-restoration efforts.

Volunteers Leading the Way

The drive at Gadere Betta saw enthusiastic participation from students, nature lovers, local citizens, and CSR volunteers. They came together early in the morning to:

  • Prepare seed balls using local soil and native seeds

  • Hike through selected zones of Gedare village, Gauribidanur taluk, Chikkaballapura district, Karnataka, India

  • Disperse hundreds of seed balls in areas that need greening

The event wasn’t just about environmental action — it was also a day of learning, bonding, and reconnecting with nature.

A Step Towards a Greener Future

The Seed Bombing drive is part of Kritagyata Trust’s larger mission to involve communities in sustainable, nature-led initiatives. Every seed ball scattered is a small step toward a healthier, greener environment.

As the monsoon rains begin, volunteers and community members now wait with hope to see green sprouts emerge where once there was only dry land.
